ClamAV is open source for one. At present though it isn't as
mature as a product like AVG. Still rough around the edges for
the "average" home user. I'd use it if I had a Windows box to
protect because I like its small footprint. Need to spend some
more time with WinPooch which is supposed to work alongside
ClamAV and bolster the protection of the system.
