I remember Viiv being rumored to hint at the dual-core, tech, since it looks like a palindrome of roman numerals :) Well that was disspelled... my understanding is that it is just another chipset-compliance spec, like Centrino. Wikipedia calls it a "marketing platform", nice one! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viiv (caution, DRM-heavy language therein might make some queasy)

(All this talk about white boxes and Dells has made me hungry for a new system!) Intel has a thing called Viiv. From Intel's web site, I can learn that it'll bring me more friends, increase my confidence, and whiten my teeth, but I can't get any clue as to what it actually is. Can anyone tell me what Viiv *is*? And, more importantly, is it something that penguins can use, or is it just for the Borg? For example, here are two nearly identical motherboards. One "Supports Intel Viiv Technology" and the other doesn't. What does that mean? http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/wh/wh_available.htm Thanks... -- Bob Miller K<bob> [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
