[1] This system is one of the most obnoxious, poorly documented, pieces

hours to figure out, if you can decipher the gibberish they call docs at
all. Their 'interface' software is so arcane that and painful to use
that I would almost rather staple my lower lip to my forehead than try
to use it. Arggg. I hates it. It burns me....

Another satisfied Siemens-Rolm customer...?
Nope. NEC. Total POS.

I played Igor[1] for a VOIP rollout last year, using Cisco handsets,
hooked up to a commercial provider (Covad); sound quality was
acceptable. I've played with TrixBox [2] and with FreeSwitch [3], but
haven't used either in production.

1. as in "Igor fetch me a crossover cable","Igor configure these
handsets for this netblock"
:) Igor. I like that.
2. http://www.trixbox.org/ Easy install ( was [EMAIL PROTECTED] )
That is one of the setup's I'm going to play with. I've just ordered a single port FXO card from Ebay that I'll be using to play with. I just need to find a couple of good hardware SIP phones that won't cost me $200 each.
3. http://www.freeswitch.org/ full on softswitch, complex but very flexible
Hadn't seen this one before. Great. Now I've got more reading to do....
