I get 698.46 GB via FAT32, on the 750 model, and have great luck with
it. Have heard of no problems to date with them, although most I know
of are not always-on drives. Sometimes on for days though.
I've found newegg's product reviews very helpful (even for reference,
when purchasing elsewhere), as their user-base has more collective
experience to compare with competetive models and across product
lines.
What kool advice, to go to newegg for reviews. Got a discount offer
from buy.com--but I do love/prefer newegg.
There were a stack of reviews at buy.com--one interesting one from a mac
user who said one MyBook works fine, but don't try to piggyback two of
them on the same (mac) system or it won't recognize either one of them.
If I ever on gawd's green earth fall for (sorry, buy) a mac, I'll
remember that.
Thanx Ben,

Kool. Just what I wanted to hear.

I've used them a bit and they seem to work fairly well. I've been using
a 500GB model for an external backup drive at a client's for about 4
months now without any issues.

Just wondering if any of you rotorheads have any experience with the WD
MyBook external hard drive.
They seem to get cheaper every day and I've been thinking how great it
would be to have a nice 250gig or so external HD to back up to.
My experience with external drive enclosures has been that if they don't
have cooling fans, they overheat. But most of the new external
enclosures don't seem to have cooling fans anymore.
Any thoughts/advice, o ye maestros?
Thanx a meg,
