You might be thinking Windows and USB. Or Via, SIS, and Nvidia
USB controllers. All of which are flaky. I've been running
multiple USB devices for years without hiccups. This includes
thumb drives, media players, joysticks, printers, and who knows
what else.

As with all things in life, YMMV.
