Normally, no. The GFCI is only checking the sum of the hot and neutral
lines. If they don't add up to zero, then there is a ground fault.

However, they aren't perfect. Noise, high frequency harmonics, or DC
leakage currents can confuse them. So, it can trip if something else on
the AC line is generating a lot of noise or producing a lot of harmonic
distortion.
