Well, I have already started driving "slower" in order to get
more mpg. On the open road I drive at the speed limit (used
to go about 20km/h faster).

The problem is the only sensible way to get into the city from
where I am is to use the highway. There is an alternate route
but it's quite twisty so there's lots of speed-up/slow-down bits,
and then after that it's traffic lights, roundabouts, pedestrian
crossings etc, and overall the route is longer.

I could drive a little slower than the speed limit, but other
drivers tend to get irritated at that, and besides I want to
demonstrate that an EV can do just as well as an ICE car.

That's where I started from. :-)

Probably not. :-)

I'll bear that in mind too. If I end up going with "Plan B",
it will be a car that will get me to the supermarket and the
railway station, and I'm sure even that would give an EV grin.

Tricky questions - I have the answers in my Palm Pilot but I
left it at home today, dammit. On the last fill-up I got
9.9 km/litre, I won't attempt to quote it in mpg because we use
different gallons over here. It take about 2 weeks to use up
about 50 litres, so at a guess that's about 4-5 litres per day
on average. Answers in US units tomorrow. :-)
