Sure.  Those of us who select drive systems that require high voltage are
mostly excluded from this low-budget battery neighborhood.  Remember, I
run a Brusa drive in a Solectria Force, and 144 volts of golf car
batteries just isn't going to work for me any more than 336 volts of them
would work for you.

Actually, there's no real reason that AC induction drives couldn't be
designed to run at 120 volts or 96 volts or whatever flooded-golf-car-
battery voltage we want.  The ones currently used in road EVs mostly
don't, but ATT (the Korean EV R&D company) builds 48 volt NEVs with AC
motors.
