It's hard for me to see that as appropriate for Deka Dominators, too.  The 
East Penn factory data say to never charge over 14.1v, IIRC.  I use 14.3v 
and have had excellent results.  I would not go higher than that.  Maybe 
Roger has some insight on the reasons for this.

Lifeline / Chairman / Concorde flat plate AGMs data say they shouldn't be 
charged over 14.3v either, if memory serves (but I was working with them a 
long time ago, mid- to late-1990s).  I think they were designed as drop in 
gel replacements.  

A long, poorly balanced series string might have one or two batteries go to 
the voltage you're seeing.  Still doesn't sound healthy to me.
