Many cars today have lots of "stuff" that is on all the time. The 12v battery will go dead if the car sits for more than 1-4 weeks.

Seeing as how you live in sunny CA, why not get a small solar panel (about a foot square) to keep the 12v battery charged? This works for any car; ICE or EV.

The 1.5W solar charger sold by Harbor Freight Tools works well and is now on sale for $13.99.
Or, last time I checked, you can get one at Fry's for $39.99.
