I was on an EV event driving from Brighton to London two years ago and ran
out of electrons right under Big Ben.
When the cells picked up a few volts to lift them over the inverter cut off
setting, I crawled round the roundabout opposite the Houses of Parliament
and stopped again just after in a side street about half a mile from the
finishing line.
Rather than give up, I had a look round, knowing that there is power
everywhere for EV's.
I found a door open to a Restaurant and although no-one answered when I
called and looked around, I found a 240v socket and plugged in for 10
minutes. :-) Happy days.

Unfortunately, a camera crew spotted me from Reuters and asked if I minded
being interviewed. :-(

We chatted about EV's in general and of course he just had to ask about the
impromptu charge point which we both chuckled over.

I often wonder if it was ever aired!

I went on to get a finishers medal and best private entry for the second
year.

Since then I have topped up in various places such as garden centres and
pubs etc. when running low. None have ever said no as I always purchased
something first.
