One would hope so.  However, given the way the utility companies are trying 
to slither away from paying market rates for intertie-PV backfed power - 
they're actively lobbying to change or revoke net metering laws in several 
states - I wouldn't count on it.  It wouldn't surprise me if they got 
Congress to pass laws requiring us to participate, and to PAY THEM for the 
privilege to boot.

A few years ago, I would have said that the EVer looking for sustainable 
transportation should consider an intertie PV system.  It seems ideal for 
folks who work - your home system is producing the most energy while your EV 
is sitting in the parking lot at the office, so why not use the grid as a 
giant storage battery?  But the way the utilities are heading these days, 
I'm starting to think that the less interaction (both electrical and 
business) I have with them, the better I'll like it.
