No, I think it is fine electrical code is electrical code. You do it right and you get the sign off.
You are allowed to have a non - grid electrical system with storage batteries - if it is built to code. You are allowed to have a conventional grid tied system if it is built to code. I am not suggesting any connection between them. Just moving appliances around as needed. It is functionally no different than having things run on a generator.
