Embellishing on David's response

If (for whatever reason: ingested deleterious chemicals, etc.) you find
yourself unable to remember how to find the official evdl.org (nabble)
archive (got bookmark?), the major browsers have a built in find feature, so
just type in evdl where you would enter the URL (address), and links to
the site will come up. Clicking on them, the main evdl.org page has a link
at the top dead-centerthat takes you straight to the official (nabble)
archives.

While the other evdl archives one could use are unofficial, I am glad they
are there as a secondary resource. It seems the evdl (nabble) archive pages
(main and including the EVLN one I post the EV newswires to) were not
released to the search engines. So, when using a search-engine, the
unofficial evdl archives come up.

Lets take a worst case scenario (you're still hung over or stoned, etc.) and
you can not remember to just type in evdl.
You can use your favorite search engine (google, yahoo, etc.) to search for
the topic you want from any archived evdl post, just put evdl at the
beginning of your keyword search. Here are some examples:
evdl state Leaf battery
evdl reset Leaf battery
evdl Leaf battery balancing

That last one
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=evdl+Leaf+battery+balancing
showed an evdl post that reminded me that pack-balancing should be done
first if one wants to know how truly healthy their pack is. Meaning, what if
a leaf EV'r has taken a trip that used L3 a few times to 80%, and a total
pack-balancing has not occurred, when compared to what was described in
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.recreation.cars.evdl/103878
EVLN: Offset Supercharging degradation w/ pack balancing

For me, I would want to take the time to discharge the pack down to a safe
point by the time I got home, and recharge it slowly until its designated
full point (SOC), then use the aforementioned tools to take a kWh capacity
reading. Then I would know what I really have (it would take more time and
effort, but for me the reading would be more valid).

Perhaps the driver could take a before and after (total pack-balancing)
capacity reading and note the difference (how much total pack-balancing made
a difference)?

For some reason I can't find the archives. So here is a question. I'm
under the impression you can get into the Leaf system to determine battery
state. What tools do you need and has anyone gotten a new battery using
this approach. Lawrence Rhodes
