Sounds like a challenge. Anyone got one they want to sell cheap.

Seriously?  Owners can't replace an open 47 ohm 5 watt resistor???  That's
a standard part available from any electronics part jobber.

Not when a 4kw plazma engulfs a 5W resistor on a board full of surface
mount high density electronics within fractions of an inch.  And if it was
just a simple 5W resistor, it would probably blow out so quick as to not
be as explosive as it is.

But it is a 5W (continuous) resistor that has HUGE density and
encabsulation and is designed to take a HUGE joule overload for a few
milliseconds.  Thus, it tries to contain the power, but then left on
*orders of magnitude* longer than designed due to the softweare glitch,
when it goes, it really goes with a plazma...

Don't bother second guessing.  THINK owners and techies and engieers have
all studied this problem and there is no solution except LUCK and making
sure the heater is OFF every time you start the car.  Else you BRICK the
car.  And hence they are out of business.

The solution is for an AC Motor CONTROLLER manufacturer (that is IN
business) to decide the market is enough for them to build a new
controller for all these bricks.

OH, and the board is completely inaccessible and the entire 700 lb Battry
box has to be removed from the car from below to get at it.
