Chris, dumpping the 500e purchase idea based on what little you have gathered (only from the evdl) is imo, not wise. You have already stated you really like the 500e EV. But you are making discisions by only yakking on the evdl. When what you should be doing is going to the source of 500e knowledge: 500e forums https://www.google.com/search?q=fiat+500e+forum and asking them your questions. And also Fiat dealerships (stealerships) in Los Angeles https://www.google.com/search?q=fiat+dealership+90007 asking them do they support the 500e, the total co$t of a pack replacement, and all your other 500e questions. The same goes for leaf questions https://www.google.com/search?q=nissan+leaf+forum https://www.google.com/search?q=nissan+dealership+90007 Only then will you get the straight poop (the facts) you'll need to make a wise decision. I'm going to make an assumption that cost$ are also an important factor for you, hence why the 500e EV's shorter range and slower recharge times are acceptable for you to over look, when a 500e lease or purchase is the lowest co$t. If my assumption is wrong and you are willing to save up to get a better, more flexible EV, with a better resale value, then look at https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/cars+under+30000/Tesla/Los+Angeles+CA-90007?makeCodeList=TESLA&searchRadius=0&zip=90007&marketExtension=off&maxPrice=30000&sortBy=derivedpriceASC&numRecords=25&firstRecord=0 specifically: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=539599434&zip=90007&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D90007%26sortBy%3DderivedpriceASC%26maxPrice%3D30000%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0%26marketExtension%3Doff%26makeCodeList%3DTESLA%26searchRadius%3D0&numRecords=25&maxPrice=30000&firstRecord=0&makeCodeList=TESLA&searchRadius=0&makeCode1=TESLA&modelCode1=TESMODS&clickType=listing $27,000 Used 2013 Tesla Model S Private Seller in Manasquan, NJ 08736 Tesla model S 60 in perfect running condition. 51k miles. 210 mile range per charge. Just ask Willie who recently hot-dogged north during our Central South Texas heat wave a few months ago. He enjoyed cruising the Northern states off SuperEVSE so much, he then endulged by going further north to enjoy our friendly Canadian neighbor's superEVSE, and hospitality :-) Bottom line: know what you want and what is important to you, get the facts from people that drive them and/or repair them, then decide. Don't decide from what little you glean from the evdl. I consider the evdl as a sign post that can point you toward even more information elsewhere to achieve your goals.
