When the yahoos with their gigantic jacked-up coal-rolling pickup trucks hassle us for our EVs, now we can remind them that we're making their fuel cheaper by reducing the demand for it. Do I really have to say this? The reason for the crash in petroleum prices is the Covid-19 pandemic. All around the world, people are staying home. In many places, they have no choice in the matter. They face arrest and/or fines if they leave their homes without solid justification. In France, for example, any resident going out has to carry a document stating his or her purpose. The police are checking. If the person doesn't go where he says he will and/or do what he says he needs to, he's subject to a fine. Meanwhile, Russia and Saudi Arabia are panicking at plummeting crude sales. They're trying to make up for the low prices with production volume, which drives prices even lower. The skies are blue again over China, too. But what a price to pay.
