Hi Sharkey, thanks for the pointer! Airpax triggers a memory; seems
that might have been the brand that Bob sent me o so long ago. Seems
like 20 amp might be better for the AC and DC sides although David
mentioned 10 amp which might be more in line with the originals. Will
know better when I pull the top and get one out and I will post what
I discover. For now a watchful eye and a toothpick is keeping the DC
breaker engaged. 90V and a series resistance ( Thanks again Lee H ! )
has gotten a 36V pack sealed lead acids from 5v to 25v and it is
looking hopeful that I can resurrect these batts from an early
recycle. According to the previous owner they were new from Monster
Scooters 2 years ago and sat on the shelf slowly fading away.

Yep; Airpax is one brand. Heinemann and CarlingSwitch are others. Looking in my box-o-breakers, I see I have a 7.5amp 65vdc, 20amp 65vdc, 40amp 65vdc, and 50amp 240vac ones. Let me know if any of these would help.

10 amps is about the most you can expect it to deliver for any length of time. More than that, and the transformer and rectifiers (and binding posts, if they're still there) will overheat.

You can add a fan to get more out of it, but as David says, I think the rectifiers will be the next to go. I think they are only rated at 15 amps.

These things are like a big hammer. You can force-charge *any* battery with it, whether it likes it or not!
