With a little added wiring, the same feature also makes them quite usable as 
reasonably beefy line voltage converters.  

Does anyone know whether they're likely to need derating at 50Hz?  I've read 
that 60Hz can be fatal for 400Hz military gear, but 60:50 is a much smaller 
line frequency reduction.
