Sadly, I think *all* the big automakers have done similar things. GM
killed the EV1, Toyota killed the RAV4-EV, etc. Every time an automaker
gets itself in an unpleasant situation, it "sweeps it under the rug" and
moves on...
Somehow, their loyal customers quickly forget, and keep right on buying
their cars.
