That will depend on how much voltage drop you will accept, how hot you allow it to get, and how long it has to carry it.
In most cases, the nickel tabs used to interconnect cells are very short (so not much voltage drop), have good heatsinking (to the large mass of the cells), and you don't draw high currents for more than a few seconds at a time.
