Dear George: Your approach to this is very similar to the argument I would make against the duplication experiment. The duplicator would have to duplicate an entire universe [not just the light cone] inside itself but the duplicated part could no longer be what it was - it would now have an external environment with the need to adjust its structure accordingly - unless there was a perfect cut between it and its enclosing now disrupted self. Thus the duplicator must appear to not work even if it did.
