I would assess the whole position based on all available data; and if things got so ugly that distasteful countermeasure are the only route, then I would take them in offering my resignation, given say lack of time to decide. I sure wouldn't jump to unjustified wars and use only very particular means; definitely not have some prepackaged answer that I would parade on public web lists. That would be strategically insane.
