Hi LizR, Exactly, we are the 'same sort of thing'. :-) It seems that only scifi writers actively explore this idea <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_of_the_Lifemaker>. The academics are stuck in the mode of thinking that somehow 'intelligence' can only arise if intentionally created by other 'intelligence'. It reminds me of the debates in the 19th century about the origin of life.
