Both have a healthy tendency to estimate probabilities. This prevents them from wasting time but also get killed, etc. Sometimes the estimates are wrong, of course. This happens a lot in science. If you have a good idea that is sufficiently new or unknown, people are going to say you're crazy. Of course, you can also really be crazy.
