But a measurement (whatever in the world that means) does not need to be made and there is nothing special about Joe, if Everett is right the same thing happens every time an electron in Joe's skin encounters a photon, or for that matter whenever an electron anywhere encounters anything. *> If this isn't absurd hubris, I don't know what is.* It's not hubris if its right but it certainly is absurd, however after nearly a century of quantum mechanical experiments one thing has been make perfectly clear, whatever the inner workings of the universe turns out to be a typical member of the species Homo Sapiens in the early 21st century would consider it absurd. Nobody would be crazy enough to dream up the Many World's idea unless they thought the alternative explanations of experimental results was worse.
