That seems to be a type of "mind-body dualism" [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind%E2%80%93body_dualism ] where the matter of the brain and the consciousness of the mind are in some sort of dance together. An alternative is that consciousness (or *experientiality* - in the philosophers' jargon) is *intrinsic* (more jargon) to matter. A change in matter would indeed change consciousness.
