Good question! Only agnosticism is the scientific view, especially with respect to ontological commitment, be it a person or impersonal god. Unfortunately the atheists have included the agnostic in their rank, which confuses everybody, and forces us to distinguish strong (non agnostic) atheism (clearly not scientific) and agnostic atheism, which is a scientific position.
