I was under the impression that electoral college members are not free to vote 
on whomever they like, that they must vote for the candidate that won in their 
state. And I do believe that it is what all of them did, otherwise I wouldn't 
say that the US are an actual democracy.

If I am indeed correct, then you are complaining about a distortion caused by 
your particular flavor of representative democracy. However, I know of no 
representative democracy without similar distortions. Do you?
