For small installations it is not an issue at all. We have Exchange 5.5
servers with 500 users on them and they have 5 disk in RAID 5, logically
partitioned for OS, Logs, Db. Not saying this is optimal but they run solid
and have been for 6 years, now we have one Exchange 5.5 servers in South
America with the same config and it is having disk i/o performance issues.
So there is a limit to going the cheaper route. But as we all migrate to
Exchange 2003 and load out servers with several thousand users, this
optimization becomes a much needed step. Not only for performance but for
stability since one server handles so many users.

I have my store and logs on the same array and have not experienced any
issues.
What are the concerns with doing this ?

I have a 5 drive Raid5, I did not want to use Raid1 + Raid5 because the
amount of cpacity use for tollerance would increase from 20% to 40%.
