I find your more likely to lose a power supply..taking out the entire box Yes even on some "dual" ps models losing one will take out the box

Our SLA states we are willing to lose 24 hours of email. Don't bark at me, I didn't write it, but you are correct if it happened and an exec lost email, it would change. But with all servers having one Hot spare drive, how likely are you to have 3 drive failures on one server. In the history of this place it has never happened. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Anthony Sollars Sent: Monday, March 15, 2004 7:59 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Exchange 2003 performance For small installations it is not an issue at all. We have Exchange 5.5 servers with 500 users on them and they have 5 disk in RAID 5, logically partitioned for OS, Logs, Db. Not saying this is optimal but they run solid and have been for 6 years, now we have one Exchange 5.5 servers in South America with the same config and it is having disk i/o performance issues. So there is a limit to going the cheaper route. But as we all migrate to Exchange 2003 and load out servers with several thousand users, this optimization becomes a much needed step. Not only for performance but for stability since one server handles so many users. What are the concerns with doing this ? I have a 5 drive Raid5, I did not want to use Raid1 + Raid5 because the amount of cpacity use for tollerance would increase from 20% to 40%.
