Goodlink = Best Mobile Mail Ever.

We were BES customers, as soon as Cingular showed us Goodlink, we bought the
crossgrade special that they offered and never looked back. It will be really
sweet once they complete the upgrades over the air functionality. That is the only
maintenance item that can be a pain currently for my users in other
cities.

As far as their platform goes, it just plain works. It is great on the RIM957's and
G100's and even better on the Treo's with documents to go to work with
attachments. The upcoming Pocket PC support will give us even more carrier and device
options.

Subject: RE: Blackberry Desktop Manager causes Outlook 2k to start in offl ine mode

What forwarding rules??

1.)I was just comparing it to the Good Server I have running...
2.)my one time install of the Desktop Redir.... for a person who had no exchange
server 3.)and my trial of the BB Biz server (compared to my Good
server)...where the only thing the Biz server did was sync e-mail wirelessly...you had
to cradle for all other sync

With the Server product..the server should do ALL the redirection..and NO client
should be required.
Except in the case of the BB Biz server which (last I tried and talked to
them) requires a client on the users desktop to sync for Contacts....etc..other stuff..

In the Good Technology.. my server does it all....no rules etc... it just sync's to
the users exchange account..pure server to server communication..
I do NOT load ANY software on my client workstations as there is NO need.
the ONLY need of a user is to charge their device so it work's At times they must send
their device to me so I can rev the sw version on the device...

The BB Biz server to my present knowledge ONLY wirelessly sync's E-mail and
Calendar..period everything else requires a user to cradle their device to sync
the rest... Contacts..etc...
the BB Biz server should still redir e-mail and calendar without ANY client sw
installed or any special "rules"...or at least I had it setup that way for my
test...
(BB tries to convince me the Biz server could do what Good Tech did...nope....sorry..
not yet...)

My exec's and sales people would be dead in the water without E-Mail, Contacts,
Calendar...(wirelessly)in that order of importance for us here...

If I had to deploy a client to my users workstation desktop..it would just kill me
maintence/update wise... and just increase my work load (not to mention
my TS-citrix users would have a hard time, no usb redir and all)...
I like it simple..... new unit, cradle, initialize to user, deploy...done.....
then on occasion...sw update to unit....

Regardless of that, you still need some way to update the forwarding rules - which is
aprt of the desktop software.

Not sure if you know this, but there are two versions of the BB client software - one
of which is specifically designed to work with the server software.
