In LCS admin right click your server, properties, "Authentication" tab.
Try NTLM for grins.

Nope, they are on the same subnet. 

The authentication option isn't available in messenger, and I don't see
it on the server config. Regardless, I doubt it's an MTU problem, as
everything is on one subnet.
