OWA is dependent on the version of Exchange on the backend server, not the front end, so he would see no improvements in that area.

Can you have 2003 AD child domain in a 2K Domain. So he can then use 2003 Exchange as the front end server and pick up the spam filters and the better OWA? And still have the email boxes on the 2000 servers.
