Hi, I have some new PCs which won't be being used for a couple of week, I though I might do some DR testing. Our Exchange 2003 backups have never been testing thoroughly and it is a constant niggling worry.
We backup the exchange stores (Veritas Backup Exec 9.1) and system state every night, but the tape is becoming full before Friday, so I think we will perform a full system backup on Mondays and just the logs for the other days. Is this a good plan ? Our exchange server is a domain controller, and our GC, we have another domain controller in another building, linked via wireless. Clearly I need to do these tests in isolation from our network, but how good a test will it be, if I ever needed to restore this server, I would be connected to our network ? I have installed Server 2003 on one PC with a similar partition config and applied all MS patches and installed bkupexec. What is the next step ? Do I rename the server to be the same as my mail server and just restore the system files/programs/systems state and stores ? Should I install AD and exchange and restore then restore the system state and stores ? Any advice appreciated. thanks Matt Joyce Children's Cancer Institute Australia http://www.ccia.org.au _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang=english To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
