I concur.

A full backup does a lot of the housekeeping stuff by default for you -
reliable backup, clearing logs, restores are a WHOLE bunch simpler - all
as Andy mentioned. 

If you can afford the backup solution to allow you to backup nightly,
then do it. Even if you nearly can.

How much value do you place in the security of your job. It would suck
to have it threatened by something as easy to avoid as this...

One more thing. While there may be noone working in your office over the
weekend, that doesn't mean that the weekend shouldn't somehow be
included in your backup cycle.
