Differential backups do not clear the trans logs. Fulls are always best, you can restore from the previous nights backup without wading through a weeks worth of tapes that may or may not all be recoverable. I like the odds better with full backups every night.

I was considering full system and store on mondays and differential through the week. Ed, I respect your knowledge in these matters, but I do wish you would explain some of the statements you make. When you say, "only thing I ever recommend", is this because you only recommend best solutions and do not have to worry about the cost of implementing, or have you have occasions where incremental or differential backups don't work ?
