Sorry, that's not terribly accurate. Entourage for the Mac may not be quite as functional with Exchange as Outlook for the Mac (classic environment required) was, but it has made a number of significant strides in recent months including the ability to access the Exchange server via DAV in addition to IMAP and POP3.
The Outlook client for the Mac was a royal PITA for many, did not support much in the way of open standards (try adding a POP3 account to Outlook for the Mac) or APIs for development. Microsoft has put serious effort into developing Entourage and while it may not today yet offer feature parity with Outlook 2003, it does offer a much smoother interface and is in some ways actually ahead of the Outlook team's work. In the coming releases I expect for the Entourage and Outlook to leapfrog over one another, borrowing the best ideas from each and leaving other aspects behind. That Entourage hasn't taken the Mac user experience from a slightly better/worse user experience than the Exchange 4.2 client to feature parity with Outlook 2003 in the last 3 years may be disappointing to some, but for those who have long term experience with the Mac and understand the larger picture of development for the Apple platform its been a terribly exiting time. For those who don't like the development path of Entourage as a replacement to the Outlook client but still want a MAPI client which runs in the OSX environment. Code away. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Steve Molkentin Posted At: Tuesday, June 22, 2004 5:47 PM Posted To: swynk Conversation: Fully Qualified Domain Name and Macintoshes Subject: RE: Fully Qualified Domain Name and Macintoshes David, Entourage will only connect via IMAP4, and not be as functional as Outlook for MAC (downloadable for free!) when connecting to an exchange environment. MACs connecting to a PC environment kinda do play well, but not necessarily with exchange in the mix. themolk. > -----Original Message----- > From: David Stark [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Tuesday, 22 June 2004 4:42 PM > To: Exchange Discussions > Subject: Fully Qualified Domain Name and Macintoshes > > I have just set up a SBS2003 Server.
