Well, I have managed to get email working to the help desk account again,
but I'm not sure it was the right way. I had to add an X500 address on both
the AD user record and also on the Exchange 5.5 record. The weird part is,
whenever I create a new user, the X500 account gets added automatically. I
had to add this one manually. But then, maybe I didn't wait long enough. Or
maybe in the process of deleting and re-adding the mailbox, AD got confused.

As Chris said:

Yeah. The problem originated a month or so ago when I mistakenly deleted the
mailbox on the Exchange 5.5 server after I moved it to E2K3. Then, I
reconnected it in E2K3, and we had these failures from HEAT sending using
MAPI. Adding the X500 addresses a couple of weeks ago resulted in my still
getting failure reports from HEAT, but the messages were actually
successfully sent. Today, I thought deleting the mailbox, re-adding it,
would synch everything up again. But, I suppose I should have just waited
until off-hours, deleted the mailbox, waited a few hours, and then added it
back again.

I'm learning the hard way that changes to AD need time, apparently.

Thanks for all your help, Chris and Ed.
