I'm using a recovery group to restore a database, and I opt to create a "dial
tone" database on the primary database so that users can function while I
perform the recovery.

I perform the recovery to the recovery group and all works fine.

I then dismount the "dial tone" database and move the recovery EDB and STM
files of the "dial tone" database to another location to later perform an
exmerge of the data.

I move the EDB and the STM from the recovery group to the original location and
mount the database.

Two questions if I am performing this properly:
1) Can I just drop the EDB and STM into the original location and Mount the
database? Will that work?
2) if that does work, will it play back the transaction logs so I get a
database with an "up to the point of failure" recovery?

Thanks.
