The problem with that is if one of your tapes is bad you're screwed. If you're depending of five or six tapes instead of one to complete a full restore, the odds are much higher that you'll have problems.

When a log file goes missing, and an Exchange Database is in an inconsistent, or "Dirty Shutdown" state you have two options: 1. Recommended: Restore from Backup. 2. Last resort: Run eseutil /p on the database, then run eseutil /d on the database, then isinteg -fix -test alltests Running through step 2 multiple times is going to land you in more trouble than you'd ever want to have, because eventually (probably sooner rather than later) your database will be unrecoverable, and then ALL YOUR MAIL WILL BE GONE FOREVER.
