Thank you for all of your advice. I am using good hardware, raid etc. Basically, I am not look for Auto failover at this time, I am aware of double take and Failover, I am basically building a box that I can simply copy the store to, (It is backed up every 12 hours) and put into production.(Understanding of course that I will need to make the requisite network and naming changes.

As someone else mentioned you could have a second server and it may have the GAL on it and PF replication, but your mailboxes wont be there and if the first server fails, the users are not going to fall over to the secondary server. Pretty much a waste IMHO. There are some 3rd party programs out there such as DoubleTake that apparently some folks are using. Not me though. If I can offer you one piece of advise, it would be to make sure you use quality hardware.
