You can configure exchange server to keep the deleted messages for a period you want. So even users empty their delted items you can restore them on a later date. 1- go to your mailbox store, right click and properties. 2- Go to limits tab and you can define how many days you want to keep deleted items.

He is still concerned because users can delete messages from their mailboxes, empty the deleted items folder, and the messages are gone (short of restoring from a backup). Is there some possible way, to prevent users from deleting their own messages.. perhaps they can send them to the deleted items folder, but thats it. They cannot empty that folder, and cannot make the messages dissapear themselves? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
