Cheers everyone for the feedback on this, don't think there's anything
been mentioned that I haven't said already, obviously plain common sense
to us ;p

I have been stressing that moving away from full daily backups is
against my recommendations but I don't think anyones listening to me,
just trying to build up more ammo as I really don't want them to change.

Cheers again.

databases

Back up to disk and then you can spin a backup of the disk file anytime.
If
cost is a problem, pop in one of those big, cheap SATA drives for the
backup
space.

Subject: Full/Incremental or Differential backups of exchange databases

Okay, I just want to gauge feedback on the various types of backup for
exchange. In every place I have worked I have always recommended only
doing
full backups on a daily basis to clear down the logs and ensure we have
multiple sets of fully recoverable databases, it just seems the safer
option
to me and I always recommend against anything else.

In my current project they are saying the backups take to long so a
suggestion has been made for differentials. I am looking to get
professional opinions on the various types of backup ideas so I can put
a
formal case forward with my recommendations.

Any advice would be great.

Cheers.
