In every place I have worked I have always recommended only doing full backups on a daily basis to clear down the logs and ensure we have multiple sets of fully recoverable databases, it just seems the safer option to me and I always recommend against anything else. In my current project they are saying the backups take to long so a suggestion has been made for differentials.
