If your issue is virus/worm etc, I agree with Chris, I would prefer it to go to the store for AV check and be moved to the PST (esp if AV on store is different to AV on desktop)
Put it another way. What are your reasons for not allowing it to touch store? One way around your problem is to connect via IMAP to the exchange server for the mailbox and leave the pop3 to be delivered to a PST -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Chris Scharff Sent: Wednesday, 23 April 2008 06:26 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: EXCHANGE & POP in teh same profile If it goes through your server, your server based AV software has a chance to catch and kill it (which with either rule type proposed would occur if the AV software utilizes the AVAPI). If it goes straight to the desktop you rely only on the desktop AV software. If it gets to the desktop it's as much of a risk or more of a risk than if it was in the Exchange store. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jean-Paul Natola Posted At: Tuesday, April 22, 2008 12:13 PM Posted To: swynk Conversation: EXCHANGE & POP in teh same profile Subject: RE: EXCHANGE & POP in teh same profile > He >wants the POP3 mail to go into PSTs without leaving any traces in >Exchange/Outlook? That is correct, So lets say you have an @verizon.net email account you pop from- I DO NOT want those messages to go in the mail store for our organization. Lets say you're Verizon email let a virus/worm through, if it goes into your mailbox then that virus has just made its way inside the network and onto the server But it seems not to be possible , aside from having a different profile. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Albert Duro Sent: Tuesday, April 22, 2008 10:44 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Re: EXCHANGE & POP in teh same profile This is getting confusing. He's got mail coming into Outlook from both Exchange and a POP3 account. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Scharff" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Exchange Discussions" <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, April 22, 2008 6:55 AM Subject: RE: EXCHANGE & POP in teh same profile No, a copy rule would leave the original in situ on the Exchange server and place a duplicate in the PST file. Moving would, as the OP stated, subject the hard deleted message to dumpster retention. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dean Cunningham Posted At: Monday, April 21, 2008 10:58 PM Posted To: swynk Conversation: EXCHANGE & POP in teh same profile Subject: RE: EXCHANGE & POP in teh same profile ??? you mean in the dumpster?
