Well, I suppose it's arguable as to whether or not the error message is
useful.

If a message transmitted via SMTP is not 7-bit ASCII, it has to be
encoded.
That encoding is sent along with the message as an attachment. Therefore
the
error message makes total sense.

I don't have a problem with them doing it. I do have a problem with them
not supplying a bit more useful error message for debugging. It took me
the better part of a week to figure out what the cause was because the
error message was useless ("your message was rejected because it
contained an attachment" and I know there was no attachment), and
getting any response at all from the listadmin was impossible.

A useful error message or a response from the listadmin would easily
solve most people's gripes.

My $.02.

Actually I believe the reason is security concerns. Some wonderful
viruses can be contained in HTML or Active-X, so why run the risk?

Is it really necessary to have your email sent to the list to be in
pretty colors and have wonderful backgrounds attached for all to see?

I agree ... why can't "they" fix a listserver that hosts Exchange and
Outlook discussion so that subscribers can use Outlook?

Are "you guys" listening?
