interesting. alternatively, you could clearly explain to them what the issue
is, encourage them to read a book and grow from the mistake.  

why did they use poor judgment and make a dumb mistake?  Good question. who
put them in that environment?  Sounds like a great opportunity for a best
practices manual as required reading before being given admin access to the
host. Simply another, perhaps positive/proactive way of thinking about it.

So, lemme get this straight:

You have an application running that is actively servicing X number of
users
and makes heavy use of memory cache. You order it to shut down and it
doesn't move fast enough to your liking so you just hit the power button
thus wiping all the transactions still held in memory possibly leading
to
data loss or even database corruption.

If someone working for me did this he would get one warning.
