I can see your point. However, I can't really agree that something like this falls into the poor judgment\dumb mistake realm. This is along the lines of deleting log files because you don't know what they are, and they take up a lot of space. If you don't know, you shouldn't be touching the box. Good question. who put them in that environment? Sounds like a great opportunity for a best practices manual as required reading before being given admin access to the host. Simply another, perhaps positive/proactive way of thinking about it. My reaction would be a disabled account, a box, and a finger pointing towards the door. -----Original Message----- From: Daniel Chenault [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, August 17, 2001 12:29 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Re: connection failure to exchange server 5.5 So, lemme get this straight: You have an application running that is actively servicing X number of users and makes heavy use of memory cache. You order it to shut down and it doesn't move fast enough to your liking so you just hit the power button thus wiping all the transactions still held in memory possibly leading to data loss or even database corruption. If someone working for me did this he would get one warning. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ropiak Steve - NAO Florence Office Exchange and Bar Code Admn." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Exchange Discussions" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, August 17, 2001 10:12 AM Subject: RE: connection failure to exchange server 5.5 > We see that if we need to do a mid day re boot and lots of users are > connected.
