DDNS. Make sure it is all there. Download DCdiag and Netdiag, run those
utils all over the servers, they will tell you what is not working..

You only get another GC if you put an X in the Check box, and it then
goes out an adds it's DDNs entries or you do it by hand. Sorry no magic
there.

Hi Kev

I have been told by someone that when you add a 2nd DC to a domain, that
the GC is transfered (without us knowing it ) by magic to that 2nd DC

My problem was that I had 2 DC and one Ex2000 member server.

By mistake I " killed " the 2nd DC and exchange was having problem to
run. I was surprised because the 1st DC in that little domain was still
there.

I reinstall a W2K server clean, did a DC promo, and ex2000 seem to work.

I'm not sure to understand what happened and was also concerned about
the stability or validity of my AD

Thanks

JF

GC is only assigned the first site in a domain, any more and you have to
put the X in the check box all by your self. FSMO roles are another
thing you need to think about and of course DDNS,

What was your issue?

Kev
